Also, without the extra production you can hear the quality of The Dells voices. Ist bei mir im Auto immer zu finden neben Sisqo,R.Kelly usw. Habe sie schon immer gern gehört und höre sie jetzt immer noch. Dru Hill ist eine meiner Lieblings Rnb Gruppen. All of The Dells vocals command your attention, and I feel like the rest of Dru Hill gets lost under Sisqo’s vocal. Habe die CD noch, aber habe sie jetzt nochmal gekauft, weil die andere schon langsam abgehört ist. Although Sisqo “takes it to church” the last minute and thirty seconds of the song, it’s not enough to have my vote. The tenor’s vocals aren’t as clear as they are on The Dells version and I think that takes away from the song a bit. This isn’t to say any of the other group members sound bad, but Sisqo brings the passion to this track. However, Sisqo carries this song on his shoulders. I really do like what Dru Hill did with “The Love We Had” and I think they did an excellent job with it. Dru Hill’s cover has a faster tempo, but maintains the original vocal arrangement. On Enter The Dru, “The Love We Had” is the second to last song on the album which was released in 1999. And if you were nearer it would all be clearer, how I wish that you were here.” It’s been said that the The Temptations have the best five-part harmony, but I’m sure The Dells would rank neck to neck with them. I love how the group enunciates the lyrics, especially when they sing “Girl if you were nearer, if you had a mirror maybe you could count my tears. Jr’s powerful voice represents the intensity and desperation in the lyrics, while Mickey McGill’s vocals reflects a more contemplative state of mind. Marvin Jr.’s voice (think Eddie King of “The Five Heartbeats)” is so raw and provides and excellent contrast for the rest of the group. The Dells vocals are crisp and so is the production. “The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind)” was released in 1971 and was a Top 10 hit on the R&B charts. Some of their more popular hits include “Stay In My Corner”, “Oh What A Night” and “Give Your Baby A Standing Ovation”. Early in their career, The Dells were signed to Chess Records and sang background vocals for Ray Charles and worked closely with Quincy Jones. #Dru hill member dies movieThe Dells are the voices behind the Five Heartbeats soundtrack (the movie was loosely based on their careers and the group served as creative consultants for the movie). Some many of you may be wondering exactly who The Dells are. After a quick search on Google, I discovered that I was listening to legendary R&B group The Dells, “The Love We Had (Stays On My Mind). Yet, this wasn’t Sisqo’s raspy voice serenading me through the speakers. I finally realized that I knew this song from R&B group Dru Hill’s sophomore album, Enter The Dru. My mind raced, trying to place who sang this song. It’s just that I’m so lonely with no place to turn and here at the end I find, the love we had stays on my mind. In 2009, the group signed to Kedar Entertainment Group and released their fourth album, InDRUpendence Day, the following year, with new member Tao taking the place of the again departed Woody. It’s not your concern, you win some you lose some. In 2002, by then part of the Def Soul record label, the group reunited and added fifth member Rufus "Scola" Waller to the lineup for their third album, Dru World Order, whose underperformance led to the group being dropped from Def Soul. Sisqó's second album, Return of Dragon, did not sell as well. While Woody's Soul Music LP was a moderate success in the gospel music industry, Sisqó's debut album, Unleash the Dragon, and its hit singles, "Thong Song" and "Incomplete", were major pop successes, and established Sisqó as a household name outside Dru Hill. Signing to Island Records through Haqq Islam's University Records imprint, the group released two successful albums, Dru Hill and Enter the Dru, before separating for a period from late 1999 to 2002, during which time Sisqó and Woody released solo albums. The group consists of lead singer Mark "Sisqó" Andrews (who went on to have a successful solo career), Tamir "Nokio" Ruffin and, Larry "Jazz" Anthony, and James "Woody Rock" Green. Founded in Baltimore, Maryland, and active since 1992, Dru Hill recorded seven Top 40 hits, and is best known for the R&B #1 hits "In My Bed", "Never Make a Promise", and "How Deep Is Your Love". Dru Hill is an American R&B group, most popular during the 1990s, whose repertoire included soul, hip hop soul and gospel music.
